Claude Dashboards on Xero
Part one is a static copy of a live Claude Dashboard on the official Xero connector, as it stood on 10 October 2026 on Xero's Demo Company (UK), with real figures. Part two shows the extra dashboards that become possible when your Xero data is copied into a warehouse through the full Xero API. Those panels use invented figures, each tagged Illustrative, and they add up to the real totals.
The four rows sum to the £9,223.08 overdue. The other £11,218.30 is not yet due.
SMART Agency is fully overdue. ABC Furniture is not yet due. Bills only; expense claims (£69.80) are excluded.
| September 2026 | £ |
|---|---|
| Sales | 17,072.72 |
| Other revenue | 624.99 |
| Total income | 17,697.71 |
| Cost of sales (Purchases) | 1,250.00 |
| Gross profit | 16,447.71 |
| Advertising & Marketing | 7,044.79 |
| Other overheads (derived) | 2,650.47 |
| Net profit | 6,752.45 |
Taken from Xero's own Profit and Loss report, excluding VAT. Overheads of £9,695.26 are gross profit less net profit; Advertising & Marketing is the biggest line.
Cash is as at 10 October 2026, from the Balance Sheet. Bank West (£624.99) is other revenue, not a customer. The bank statement balance can differ because of unreconciled lines.
Xero blocks the profit and loss, balance sheet, cash and top-customer tools on demo companies. The two panels above that cover profit and cash therefore show figures read from Xero's own reports. On a real organisation the connector is built to return them live.
| Figure | Dashboard | Xero report | Match |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owed to us | 20,441.38 | 20,441.38 | Aged Receivables |
| Of which overdue | 9,223.08 | 9,223.08 | Aged Receivables |
| We owe | 9,079.59 | 9,079.59 | Aged Payables |
| Of which overdue | 6,098.48 | 6,098.48 | Aged Payables |
Overdue is measured against due dates as at 10 October 2026. One customer invoice of £1,995.00 falls due that same day, so £7,228.08 is overdue strictly before today.
Two read-only Xero calls, Get aged receivables and Get aged payables, run on each open. Totals and the overdue split are computed on the page from the invoice and bill rows, and a Sources panel shows those rows beside Xero's own totals.
Each viewer reads through their own Xero connection, which suits an owner and their accountant.
Tested one by one on the Demo Company (UK) on 10 October 2026. Xero blocks four of the report tools on demo companies, so the profit and cash panels above show figures from Xero's own reports. On a real organisation those four tools are built to return live figures; we have tested them on the demo company only.

Not reachable through the connector at all: manual journals, the general ledger (journal lines, trial balance), payments, credit notes, items and inventory, budgets, payroll and expense claims, quotes, projects, fixed assets and depreciation, reconciled bank lines and transfers, and full contact details.
Everything below needs data the connector cannot reach. Every number on these panels is invented unless the note says it is real, and each panel names the Xero API endpoint behind it.
Open the full interactive warehouse dashboard, with slicers by period, region, customer and item.
Needs: Reports endpoint, Profit and Loss by month (Accounting API).
| Month | Income | Net profit | Margin | Income |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apr | 14,820.00 | 4,910.30 | 33.1% | |
| May | 15,360.50 | 5,402.15 | 35.2% | |
| Jun | 16,105.25 | 5,988.70 | 37.2% | |
| Jul | 15,890.80 | 5,615.40 | 35.3% | |
| Aug | 16,742.10 | 6,310.55 | 37.7% | |
| Sep | 17,697.71 | 6,752.45 | 38.2% |
September is the real figure (£17,697.71 income, £6,752.45 net profit). April to August are invented. The connector gives one period at a time; a warehouse keeps every month side by side.
Needs: Budgets endpoint and the Budget Summary report (Accounting API).
| September | Budget | Actual | Variance | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Income | 16,500.00 | 17,697.71 | +1,197.71 | Ahead |
| Cost of sales | 1,400.00 | 1,250.00 | -150.00 | Under budget |
| Overheads | 9,200.00 | 9,695.26 | +495.26 | Over budget |
| Net profit | 5,900.00 | 6,752.45 | +852.45 | Ahead |
Actuals are the real September figures. Budgets are invented, with the Demo Company's overheads of £9,695.26 as the actual. The connector cannot read budgets at all.
Needs: invoice lines plus the Items endpoint (Accounting API).
| Item | Sales | Cost | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consulting (hourly) | 7,420.00 | 0.00 | 100.0% |
| Design package | 4,850.72 | 0.00 | 100.0% |
| Support retainer | 3,200.00 | 0.00 | 100.0% |
| Hardware and supplies | 1,602.00 | 1,250.00 | 22.0% |
| Total | 17,072.72 | 1,250.00 | 92.7% |
The item split is invented. Sales add to the real £17,072.72 and cost to the real £1,250.00 of Purchases. Adding Other Revenue of £624.99 gives the real gross profit of £16,447.71. Services carry no item cost in this sample.
Needs: Payments plus Invoices (Accounting API).
Days are invented, though the order matches who is overdue today. The connector sees what is owed now; only payments show how long customers really take.
Needs: BankTransactions plus Payments (Accounting API).
| Month | In | Out | Net | Closing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Opening, 1 Apr | 3,894.40 | |||
| Apr | 15,210.40 | 14,880.15 | +330.25 | 4,224.65 |
| May | 15,820.00 | 15,946.30 | -126.30 | 4,098.35 |
| Jun | 16,350.75 | 15,702.10 | +648.65 | 4,747.00 |
| Jul | 16,040.20 | 16,255.85 | -215.65 | 4,531.35 |
| Aug | 16,910.60 | 16,432.40 | +478.20 | 5,009.55 |
| Sep | 17,355.30 | 17,090.55 | +264.75 | 5,274.30 |
The September closing balance is the real £5,274.30 as at 10 October; every earlier month is invented. Cash includes VAT and timing, so it differs from profit and loss income. The connector shows today's balance and unreconciled lines only.
Needs: tracking category Region plus Profit and Loss by tracking category (Accounting API).
The Demo Company has a tracking category called Region with four options. The connector lists those names but not the figures. Option names are shown generically here; the four amounts are invented and add to the real £6,752.45.
Needs: Payroll API, UK (pay runs and payslips). Access still to be confirmed.
| Month | Payroll cost | % of income | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apr | 1,720.00 | 11.6% | |
| May | 1,745.50 | 11.4% | |
| Jun | 1,780.00 | 11.1% | |
| Jul | 1,795.25 | 11.3% | |
| Aug | 1,820.00 | 10.9% | |
| Sep | 1,850.00 | 10.5% |
All payroll figures are invented. September payroll sits inside the £2,650.47 of other overheads, so it does not change the real net profit.
Needs: Projects API (projects, tasks and time). Access still to be confirmed.
| Project | Billed | Time cost | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ridgeway University: website rebuild | 4,125.00 | 940.00 | 77.2% |
| Port & Philip Freight: reporting set-up | 2,100.00 | 380.00 | 81.9% |
| City Limousines: booking clean-up | 1,195.00 | 160.00 | 86.6% |
Projects and costs are invented. Billed time adds to the £7,420.00 of consulting sales above. Time cost is the share of September payroll (£1,850.00, see the payroll panel) booked to each project; it sits inside overheads, not cost of sales.
Needs: Assets API (assets and asset types). Access still to be confirmed.
| Asset | Cost | Depreciated | Book value | Sep charge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery van | 18,000.00 | 7,200.00 | 10,800.00 | 300.00 |
| Laptops | 6,000.00 | 2,400.00 | 3,600.00 | 100.00 |
| Office furniture | 4,800.00 | 960.00 | 3,840.00 | 40.00 |
| Total | 28,800.00 | 10,560.00 | 18,240.00 | 440.00 |
Assets are invented, written off in a straight line. The £440.00 September charge and the payroll above together stay inside the £2,650.47 of other overheads.
| API family | What it covers | What it unlocks | Reach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accounting API: the part the connector reaches | Invoices, Bills, Contacts (lookup only), Accounts, Purchase Orders, Repeating templates, and the aged, Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Read-only | Who owes what, invoice and bill totals, summary profit and cash on a real organisation | Connector |
| Accounting API: documents, ledger-adjacent data and reports | Payments, CreditNotes, BankTransactions, Items, Budgets, ManualJournals, TrackingCategories, Quotes, Overpayments, Prepayments, ExpenseClaims, Reports (Trial Balance, Budget Summary, Bank Summary) | Margin by item, budget against actual, days to pay, cash flow, profit by region | Warehouse |
| Accounting API: Journals | The full general ledger, line by line | Exact ledger detail; otherwise rebuilt from reports, documents and bank transactions | Warehouse, Advanced tier only |
| Payroll API (UK, AU and NZ) | Employees, pay runs, payslips, timesheets, leave. UK is the one that matters here | Payroll cost as a share of income | Warehouse (access to confirm) |
| Projects API | Projects, tasks and time entries | Project profitability | Warehouse (access to confirm) |
| Assets API | Fixed assets and asset types | Fixed assets and depreciation | Warehouse (access to confirm) |
| Files API | Files, folders and the documents attached to transactions | Supporting documents next to the numbers; rarely needed for reporting | Warehouse |
| Practice Manager API | Xero Practice Manager, for accounting firms | Practice-level jobs and time. Listed by Xero as an Advanced tier feature | Warehouse, Advanced tier only |
| Finance API | Statements and cash validation, described by Xero as endpoints for loan applications | Not part of our plan | Neither (aimed at lenders) |
| Bank Feeds API | Pushes bank statements into Xero | Closed to financial institutions with a Xero partnership | Neither |
| App Store API | Subscription billing for Xero app partners | Not relevant to reporting | Neither |
Identity (sign-in and connections) and Webhooks (change notifications) sit alongside these. "Connector" means Claude's Xero connector reaches it. "Warehouse" means it needs data copied out through Xero's API. The first three rows are one API, the Accounting API, split by what the connector reaches.
Xero API tiers (AUD per month, excluding tax; pricing effective 2 March 2026):
| Tier | Per month | Connections | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | 5 | 1,000 calls a day per organisation |
| Core | $35 | 50 | 5,000 calls a day per organisation |
| Plus | $245 | 1,000 | |
| Advanced | $1,445 | 10,000 | The only tier with the Journals endpoint, with a security assessment and use-case approval |
Starter covers the first five clients at no cost and Core up to fifty. The full ledger sits behind the Advanced tier, so for most clients we rebuild it from the Reports endpoints, documents (invoices, bills, credit notes and payments with their lines), manual journals, bank transactions and items. We are still confirming that every one of those endpoints is open on the Starter and Core tiers.
Planned ingest scope: Invoices (lines), Bills, CreditNotes, Payments, ManualJournals, BankTransactions, Items, Contacts, Accounts, TrackingCategories and Budgets, plus the Profit and Loss report by month and tracking category and the Trial Balance.
